WFH Office Essentials
In the era of working from home, it is important to create an environment where you can work eight hours a day or more. Some of us are more fortunate and have their own office space in their apartment or house, while others need to work on the kitchen counter.
Regardless of where you work, there are a few items that will make your office life so much more enjoyable.
Plants
Research suggests that plants in the office will help to reduce stress and boost creativity. Plants are not only pretty, but they also have the benefit of providing cleaner air. My office is loaded with plants. I love the energy these little beauties provide. Snake plants, succulents, and devil’s ivy make perfect office plants. I own all three of them, so I can tell you from experience, these plants don’t mind if you neglect them for a bit. Did you know devil’s ivy can even grow in fluorescent light?
Two screens
I know two monitors are a bit extra, but it makes all the difference. Having two screens makes my workday more efficient. I bought an additional screen that I connect with my laptop. Two monitors come in handy, especially when writing a blog post while at the same time doing some research.
My tip: Look for a screen with a blue shield. A blue shield can filter out rays that can help protect your eyes from getting tired, avoid headaches, and reduce wrinkles. I also wear glasses with a blue shield, these glasses are available for prescription and non-prescription.
Office Chair Cushions
I recently got a new office chair, and since I mostly work from home, I started to experience tailbone pain. A quick search led me to Everlasting Comfort, a company specializing in memory foam pillows. I bought the seat cushion, which is designed to ease the pressure on your back and tailbone. The seat cushion is also designed to improve posture.
Suppose you are sitting for a long time, I recommend a seat cushion and lumbar support. Some chairs already have these features included, but if not, visit Everlasting Comfort.
Planner
As simple as it sounds, a planner is an organized person’s must-have. The planner is essential to write down your ideas, get through your to-do’s, or to schedule appointments. I like to write down my ideas on paper first before I digitalize them.
Natural light
Studies show that natural light in your workspace promotes productivity and happiness. Natural light can help regulate the body’s biological clock rhythm meaning our sleep schedule. Try to position your office in a corner of your house with natural light.
