Instagram Health Check

Are you losing followers and likes? I am sure it is frustrating to see your follower count going down, especially after investing time and effort into content creation and community engagement. In order to pinpoint what is hurting your account, I recommend an Instagram health check.

First, you have to analyze where the problem occurs in your Instagram account. Follow these steps and answer each point honestly.

1. Follower count

Is your Instagram follower count on a downward trend? You can use a website like socialblade.com to track your gained and lost followers. You can also access your gained and lost followers in your Instagram insights. If you are losing more followers than gaining them, you have a problem, and your account might be in trouble.

2. Likes and comments

Is your engagement decreasing in your in-feed posts? Look at all your posts from over a month and see if engagement is declining. If your like and comment count is on a downward trend, your account might be in trouble.

3. Followers are not online

You are posting when your fans are not online. You can check your insights on when your followers are online. If your fans are not online, don't post. Are you just starting your account? Start posting at different times and observe how your content is performing. Give it a few weeks to understand your best posting times, and keep checking your insights.

4. Evaluate content

Are you posting content that does not relate to your niche? If so, you have to stop posting images that have nothing to do with your niche. You are confusing your followers to the point where they unfollow you. Another important aspect is to provide followers with value.

What you can do to save your account:

Only post when your fans are online

The reason your Instagram account is not growing is because you are either posting at the wrong time when your fans are not online, or you are posting content that is all over the place and has nothing to do with your niche. You are losing followers because you're confusing your audience with your post.

Start posting when your followers are online and start producing content that fits within your niche.

Quality Control

Look at your last 10 - 15 posts and determine whether these posts fit within your niche or not. One glance at your account should be enough to understand what you are trying to teach or sell. If your message is not clear and your posts are all over the place, start producing content that fits your niche.

Instagram Bio

Provide a snapshot of what you are all about in 150 characters or less. Include a profile picture and a link to your website.

Community Engagement

To keep up your engagement on your posts, it is your responsibility to do community engagement. Every day you have to engage with your followers and accounts in your niche. Leave meaningful comments and like their posts to build relationships. Only relationships lead to trust, which leads to a sale.
