3 Proven Strategies to Keep Your Audience Hooked

Video Series / Different Parts

A simple yet effective strategy for viewers to return to your account or spend more time on your account is to divide one video into more. Rather than sharing a single 40-second video, consider dividing it into two 20-second clips labeled as Part 1 and Part 2. End the first video by intriguingly prompting viewers to catch Part 2 for the ultimate revelation.

This approach not only builds anticipation but almost "forces" the viewers to watch both segments for a complete understanding, as standalone videos lack the full context.

On the other hand, you can craft a video series, which differentiates itself from multi-part content by being a preset number of videos dedicated to a specific topic. For instance, envision a series titled "How to Optimize Your Instagram Bio." Each video within the series dives into a crucial optimization aspect, such as the importance of your IG profile picture, tips for selecting the perfect username, and recommendations for including links.

The brilliance of a series lies in its versatility—each video delivers value independently, yet collectively, they form a comprehensive guide to the entire topic.

Implementing these strategies enhances the overall viewing experience, encouraging viewers to return to your account and spend more time engaging with your content.

Journey

Another way to retain users and make them consume more of your content is by sharing our journey. Consider your videos as a diary entry, offering glimpses into your personal growth and experiences.

Wether this is taking your videosers on the journey of building your own business, traveling the world, sharing stories from your 9-5, or raising a family. The more you share about personal growth the more people will come back because they intersted in the outcome and your journey.

Whether you're documenting the process of building your own business, traveling the world, sharing stories from your 9-5 job, or sharing the joys and challenges of raising a family, each element of your journey becomes a compelling narrative. The more you open up about your personal growth, the more people are likely to return. Your audience becomes invested in the outcome and progression of your journey, creating a connection that keeps them coming back for more.

Value

The ultimate factor that determines whether people will engage with and return to your videos is the value you offer. The more value-packed your content, the higher the likelihood that viewers will save it and keep coming back for more.

Ensure that each TikTok consistently provides valuable and relevant information for your audience. Whether it's educational, entertaining, informative, or inspirational. Maintaining a consistent stream of content that aligns with your audience's interests will encourage them to return for more.

Here's my golden rule of value:

When you're about to share something online, whether it's a picture, reel, or story, don't just post it for the sake of posting. Before sharing, ask yourself, "How does this add value?" Whether you're aiming to make yourself more relatable by sharing glimpses of your life or inspire someone, every piece of content should contribute meaningfully to your audience's experience.

For instance, if you post a picture of your breakfast cereal on your IG story, follow it up by explaining the benefits of a nutritious breakfast in the next sequence. This thoughtful approach ensures that your content serves a purpose and resonates with your audience, making them more likely to return for the value you consistently provide.
